Get to know the wonderful people that make up the Twenty5 Team!
Meet Jenny Norton, our Financial Controller here at Twenty5. Learn more about Jenny, what inspired her to work in finance, why she joined Twenty5, and her favorite song she never gets tried of listening to.
How long have you been with Twenty5 and why did you join?
I joined Twenty5 in September 2022. Twenty5 offered the right role at the right moment in my career, because our needs and contributions were a great fit for one another and we have continued to grow well together.
What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
I was always good with numbers and cared very deeply about personal financial security so I saw accounting as the best career path to integrate my skill sets into my personal life vision. I also liked the versatility of accounting and its usefulness in so many aspects of life. I've used it to help friends and family and not for profit organizations, and I've branched out into teaching and mentoring as well.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received and from who?
Hard to pick just one, but my dad has a saying "Do it once, do it right" and I think that has become a mantra for me in a lot of my life decisions. My best friend also told me before a marathon to "run the mile you're in" and I think that has served me well too.
What do you love most about what you do at Twenty5?
I love the degree of mutual trust that has been established amongst the executive leadership team, which empowers me to contribute broadly to the business and to the entire Twenty5 team.
As we are a 100% remote team, what is your favorite work-from-home productivity hack?
It's actually work from NOT home - to effectively juggle simultaneous child care and work responsibilities, I sometimes head to a kiddy cafe where I can be productive on my laptop while my kid explores independently in a safe and fun space.
How do you unwind after a long day?
Watching a TV series on Netflix (recently completed - Suits) and indulging my salt tooth with one of the many unhealthy snacks in my pantry (lately, snap pea crisps). And usually washing that down with a glass of port.
What song can you listen to over and over again?
The greatest song I know - Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E Minor, Movement II. It is 8 minutes of musical perfection. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqTBB1La7eY
