Meet the Twenty5 Team: Nate Joseph

Get to know the wonderful people that make up the Twenty5 Team!

Meet Nate Joseph, our Executive VP of Sales & Partnerships here at Twenty5. Learn more about Nate, what inspired him to work at Twenty5, what inspired his career path, and his greatest personal achievement.

How long have you been with Twenty5 and why did you join?

I have been with Twenty5 for just over a year now. Prior to joining, I was at SAP working in their global Industry Business Unit for Professional Services and was responsible for the Industry Cloud strategy that SAP ultimately sold to their largest clients like Accenture, Deloitte, EY, etc. I got to know and work with Twenty5 for two years in that role and felt very passionately about what they were doing, so I decided to take the leap and join them.

What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

I was born to be in sales. At a very early age I learned the art of negotiation and persuasion, mainly negotiating for late night snacks or a new video game. I also was a multi-sport athlete and thrive in a competitive environment. Sales is all about solving challenging problems and helping people, two things I am enthusiastic about. You get to do both in sales, you are helping companies solve complex problems and you also get to help your own team succeed. It is very rewarding to see the direct impact your work has on the company’s success.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received and from who?

This is really tough to narrow down to one specific piece of advice, so here’s two. Growing up and still to this day, my dad always says to give 110% in anything you do. The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the extra 10%. The other was from my uncle who was a former leader at Corning, he told me that event+response=outcome (E+R=O). It’s not what happens to you but how you respond that defines the outcome. This has helped me through the most difficult challenges in my career and both are guiding principles that I live by.

What do you love most about what you do at Twenty5?

I love that I get to play such a large part in the success of the company. Working at a large company like SAP has its benefits and the amount of learning you do is unmatched; it was truly like receiving an MBA in the real world. But working for a smaller company is so rewarding because you get to see the impact of your work on a day-to-day basis. It’s also so exciting to me to be building a rocket ship mid-flight. Every day is a new adventure and I love it.

As we are a 100% remote team, what is your favorite work-from-home productivity hack?

Get the most important work done first thing in the morning. This isn’t so much a work-from-home hack, but a life hack in general. If you tackle the hardest thing first, you set yourself up for a great day because everything is easier from there on out.

How do you unwind after a long day?

Unwinding for me has always been difficult because I don’t really have an off button. So, for the most part it’s watching a show with my wife or taking our dog for a walk. I have been more intentional with cooking dinner every night too and that has been a good way to detach from work and serves as a mental breakpoint from the workday.

What's your greatest personal achievement?

Other than getting married, because that seems like an easy cheat to put, it was buying my house. I nagged my parents for years to help me buy a house and I was always met with the same answer, “no, you need to do it yourself, it will be more rewarding that way”. I will never forget June 30th, 2020, the day I got my biggest commission check ever from SAP and was able to buy my first house all on my own. It was the most rewarding feeling ever. We were actually in LA for the weekend, and I remember having to run to Bank of America and wire the money into the escrow account to officially lock down the purchase of the house. It was a valuable lesson that I will never forget.
